HSEQ Manager (Sydney) – Ref No. HSEA007


EDP is seeking an experienced HSEQ manager to lead the continued development of its Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) management across all aspects of the company’s Australian operations.


EDP is a health, safety, property compliance and environmental consultancy founded over 25 years ago with offices in Australia, UK, Ireland and Singapore. EDP’s Sydney operation has experienced significant growth and we now have an opportunity for a HSEQ Manager to join our management team and contribute to the continued growth and success of the business.


This is an exciting opportunity to be part of EDP who have recently been awarded the Client Choices Award for Best Environmental Firm (<$30 revenue) in 2020.

As a growing business, EDP wishes to ensure that the company’s management systems also grow effectively in order to maintain performance excellence for all clients. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that our HSEQ business management systems are developed and maintained in line with the requirements of the ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001 Standards.


The HSEQ Manager will engage with all areas of business operations and will build relationships with managers and team members to educate, mentor and assess the performance of the business to ensure continual improvement in HSEQ performance.


The HSEQ Manager will report performance to senior managers at strategic points each year and will engage with clients to obtain comprehensive feedback about EDP’s HSEQ performance. 


Main Duties and Responsibilities


The HSEQ Manager will have overall responsibility for the development and management of HSEQ management systems and processes across the business, with specific responsibility to:


  • Review existing performance to identify HSEQ existing management requirements
  • Develop a HSEQ improvement plan and deliver over defined time periods
  • Build HSEQ management systems aligned to the requirements of the ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001 Standards using an integrated management system approach
  • Lead the company’s certification programme for ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001
  • Develop and deliver HSEQ improvement objectives within EDP
  • Develop HSEQ key performance indicators and report on performance using comprehensive management information packs
  • Manage and maintain a competency and training matrix for all HSEQ requirements
  • Manage an internal HSEQ audit programme achieved through direct auditing and the management of internal HSEQ audit’s at EDP office locations and client environments
  • Deliver an engagement programme internally to raise awareness of and compliance in line with the requirements of the HSEQ management systems
  • Maintain appropriate systems for the control of all necessary HSEQ documented information
  • Technical development of EDP consultants via:
    • Developing and running training and auditing programs;
    • Mentoring staff and reviewing works to maintain quality; and
  • Working with the senior management team to identify improvement opportunities 
  • Implement an effective HSEQ management review process
  • Other related activities as required and instructed to complete, from time to time

  • Tertiary Qualification in safety, environment or quality management
  • Relevant professional memberships of AIHS or similar HSEQ competency bodies
  • Lead auditor status
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related subject

Experience


  • 5 years related work within the field of HSEQ management

  • Experience of managing certification to ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001

  • 10 years related work within the field of Health, Safety and Environment.

We require self-motivated, high calibre Graduates with an Environment, Science or Engineering degree to work in a team of consultants to provide quality consultancy to a large array of clients in a diverse range of projects.

  • Asbestos and other hazardous materials monitoring;
  • Clearance inspections and reports;

EDP is seeking HSE Consultants specialised in asbestos and hazardous materials management to join our office in Sydney. EDP is a health, safety and environmental consultancy founded over 25 years ago with offices throughout the UK and with international operations in Ireland and Singapore. As part of continuing the international expansion, we opened an office in Sydney with the aim of growing an industry leading health, safety and environmental consultancy business across Australia.


We are looking for experienced Asbestos / Hazardous Materials and Occupational Hygiene Consultants to join our rapidly expanding Australian operations. This is an exciting opportunity to help grow EDP and be part of the EDP journey in Australia from an early stage. We require self-motivated, high calibre consultants to assist with input to develop both technical excellence and industry leading quality systems and processes.


Main Duties and Responsibilities


The successful candidates will be experienced in one or more of the following areas of work:


  • Undertaking asbestos/hazardous materials audits and sampling;
  • Conducting a full range of compliance air monitoring, for friable and non-friable asbestos works and visual inspections during Asbestos/Hazmat remediation projects;
  • Maintaining existing client relationships to expand regional business opportunities and services via proactive consultancy;
  • Preparing accurate reports of your work in standard formats; and
  • Maintaining and building on good relationship with clients.

This role involves working to our Quality Management Systems within small project teams of consultants and servicing a range of local and national clients in both the public and private sector.


As a committed and service driven individual you will either have proven ability in the main core areas, or a strong desire to gain this experience.
