EDP, an RSK company providing health and safety, property compliance and environmental services, announces a new office opening in New South Wales.

The Newcastle (Kotara) office, EDP’s third base in Australia after those in Sydney and Brisbane, will be staffed with experts in contaminated land management and remediation, resource recovery, waste management, occupational hygiene and hazardous materials assessment, supporting the company’s rapid growth and a strong pipeline of work heading into 2023, particularly in defence, local government, development, transport and ports.

The opening was officiated by Sarah Mogford, Director, Environment and Planning Division, RSK Group; Mark Haydock, Managing Director, RSK Australia; and John Batty, Managing Director, EDP. Since 2019, EDP has been active in the Hunter region. The company has been providing asbestos, hazardous materials, contaminated land and environmental management and remediation support within Defence bases in Williamtown, Singleton and the greater Northern New South Wales region.

“EDP was the first company to join RSK Australia when the latter was established in 2021 and has played an important role in spearheading its growth plans in Australia. The opening of EDP’s office in Newcastle will provide much-needed expertise, especially in the Hunter region, and will support RSK Australia’s plan to increase its presence in the country by eightfold,” said Mark Haydock, Managing Director, RSK Australia.

“Since our humble beginnings in 2019, EDP has always endeavoured to align itself with the needs of its clients by providing a trusted adviser solution while providing a place where high-performing consultants can grow and learn. This has enabled the business to grow from strength to strength. The establishment of an office in Newcastle creates a new chapter in the life of EDP that will help our talented staff to better service our clients in the Hunter region and build on the success that has been laid with the establishment of our Sydney and Brisbane operations. Our dream is to provide a national service, and this takes us a further step towards realising the dream of providing tailored solutions to our clients through learning and innovation,” said John Batty, Managing Director, EDP.

“The acquisition of EDP in 2021 was a crucial milestone in developing the RSK Group in Australia. It is great to see the team drumming momentum for the growth of RSK Australia. As EDP expands its presence with a new office and headcount, it will foster more opportunities and enhance our market position in the compliance and environmental sectors. I look forward to greater collaboration between EDP and other companies within RSK Australia as we deliver sustainable solutions for businesses and industries,” said Sarah Mogford, Director, Environment and Planning Division, RSK Group.
